Where To Find & Use Silk Thread In Palia

Insect catching may not be for the faint of heart as it may trigger entomophobia, the fear of bugs for some players. Nevertheless, it’s one of eight Skills players can use throughout the exploration and when completing quests, as this skill has Auni as the assigned Skill Master and runs the Guild Store.

One of the resources tied to Insect Catching is Silk Thread, which demands you equipped with Smoke Bombs to track down specific bugs that drop this valuable resource. If this has you hooked, then continue reading this guide as we explain how to get and best use Silk Thread in Palia.

Silk Thread is one of a few resources that can be obtained by catching specific bugs in Kilima Village and Bahari Bay. More specifically, they must catch Rare and Epic rarity bugs, so it would be wise to level this skill to have various tools available to help catch these creepy crawlers.

Nevertheless, to catch these critters, you must have smoke bombs in their Inventory and have a high rarity belt equipped to the character, like the Standard, Fine, or Exquisite Belts. Likewise, certain consumable items, like the Honey Lure and Smoke Candle, may also help lure insects for a limited time.

As for which bugs, when caught, will drop Silk Thread, players can look out for the following bugs in Kilima Village and Bahari Bay:

The bugs listed above will drop Silk Thread when caught using a smoke bomb, which the recipe for smoke bombs can be purchased from Auni. Depending on the rarity, rare bugs like the Bahari Glowbug can drop a maximum of seven Silk Threads, while a maximum of 14 Silk Threads can be farmed from Epic rarity bugs.

Silk is required for two specific quests, including Badruu Blues, used in crafting a lute for Badruu. Another use for Silk Thread farmed from these bugs is to bring them back to your housing plot and place it on the Fabric Loom, which will produce Silk, which the recipe can be purchased from Tish.

Five Silk Threads are required to make one Silk fabric, which can be utilized in crafting various equipment pieces, furniture, and decor items. But if you’re in a hurry to get some Silk for a quest or crafting, you can buy Silk directly from Tish for 145 Gold per piece.
